About This Project



In January 2012, Barr Ryder Architects was commissioned to work with Devon Canada Corporation to design the new Core Camp Facility for the Pike project site near Conklin, Alberta.


The new core facility is designed to include administration, food services, entertainment and recreation for up to 2,000 residents. The completed design will include provision for future expansion to accommodate an additional 300 residents. The conceptual program for the new facility incorporates:


  • Entry and Lobby
  • Reception
  • Boot Locker Rooms
  • Administration Offices (with future expansion)
  • Medical Suite
  • Games Area
  • Theatre
  • Multipurpose Rooms (up to six)
  • Dining Rooms
  • Kitchen/Servery
  • Gymnasium
  • Fitness (multi-level)
  • Squash Courts (3)
  • Laundry (incoming and outgoing)
  • Washrooms (public)
  • Mechanical/Utility/Service
